چکیده
For many years blueto ngue has been known as a n importa nt a nd often fatal virus di sease of sheep in South Africa, (Henning, 1956) . As a result of extensions of the d isease to countries outside Africa considerable interest in this d isease has recently developed. The biological characteristics of the virus and its transmission by the biting midges have been studied extensively, but very little information on its biophysical properties are available (Du Toit, 1944 ; Howell , 1963 ; F oster, Jones & McCrory 1963).

Structural insight into African horsesickness virus infection.
African horsesickness (AHS) is a devastating disease of horses. The disease is caused by the double-stranded RNA-containing African horsesickness virus (AHSV). Using electron cryomicroscopy and three-dimensional image reconstruction, we determined the architecture of an AHSV serotype 4 (AHSV-4) reference strain. The structure revealed triple-layered AHS virions enclosing the segmented genome an...
متن کاملIsolation of bluetongue virus from sheep in Rajasthan State, India.
A cytopathic agent was isolated in a baby hamster kidney (BHK)-21 cell-line from blood samples of cross-bred sheep showing typical bluetongue symptoms at Avikanagar in Rajasthan State, India. The cytopathic agent was identified as a bluetongue virus (BTV) by immunofluorescence, the immunoperoxidase test and electron microscopy of BHK-21 cells infected with the new isolate. The new isolate was t...
متن کاملAppling real time RT-PCR for bluetongue virus detection in Iran
During 2009-10, real time RT-PCR and conventional RT-PCR techniques Used for detecting BTVs RNA in 310 blood samples. For real time and gel based RT-PCR segment-1 and segment-10 selected as conserve genes to search any BTV strains. Using these methods, 58 (%18.7) and 14 (%4.5) positive samples were detected among the clinically suspected sheep. Sensitivity of both molecular techniques evalua...
متن کاملEffects of Sodium Valproate on the Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1: An in Vitro Study
Background: Sodium valproate, an anticonvulsant drug, is reported to stimulate Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 and Human cytomegalovirus replication. Since epileptic patients undergoing sodium valproate therapy may suffer from various virus infections, the effect of this drug on replication of viruses especially those affecting neuronal tissues such as Herpes simplex virus type 1 is worthy ...
متن کاملFactors affecting the bluetongue virus neutralizing antibody response and the reaction between virus and antibody.
A study was made of different aspects of the bluetongue virus neutralizing antibody response and the reaction between the virus and antibody. Optimum neutralization was obtained in a 2mM Tris-HCl buffer, pH 9,0, at a temperature of 4 degrees C. The reaction of virus and antibody could be demonstrated by electron microscopy in the formation of clumps which were shown to be serotype specific. It ...
